The
houses were let unfurnished, but they
came with certain fittings as standard. The floors throughout the house
were covered but not fitted with carpets. In some houses, for example, downstairs
they had hard plastic tiles and upstairs linoleum and tenants put in their
own carpets and curtains. In the first
houses, the kitchen had a larder,
cupboards, a gas water boiler, a ceramic sink and draining board and storage
for coal; tenants provided their own cookers, fridges and washing
machines. The living room and the bedrooms were provided with some storage,
and there was often an airing cupboard in the bathroom. |
